Burkina Faso soldiers detained in connection with an alleged coup Plot

Soldiers from Burkina Faso have been detained in connection with an alleged coup plot.

Eight soldiers have been taken into custody in Burkina Faso on suspicion of preparing a coup.

Col. Mohamed Emmanuel Zoungrana, an acclaimed former army commander who has reportedly been critical of the government, is among those detained.

It was announced on Tuesday that an investigation into the incident had commenced.

It was seven years ago that a military unit loyal to the overthrown and exiled president, Blaise Compaoré, seized power in Burkino Faso.

Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, the country’s current head of state, made major changes to the administration last month while under intense pressure from Islamist terrorists.
